Questions about the lake level

What is full pool on Lake Travis?
Full pool is the conservation pool at Mansfield Dam, 681 feet above mean sea level. Lake Travis is managed for water supply up to that elevation. NOAA uses the same 681 feet as the action stage for this gauge.
How is percent full measured?
Percent full is conservation storage divided by conservation capacity, published by the Texas Water Development Board. It is not the lake level divided by 681. Storage is not linear with elevation: a foot of water near the top of Lake Travis covers more area than a foot near the bottom. TWDB lists the conservation capacity as 1,098,044 acre-feet.
What do the flood stages mean?
The National Weather Service rates the Mansfield Dam gauge, MSDT2, as action stage at 681 feet, minor flood stage at 685, moderate at 691, and major at 695. The flood of record at the gauge is 710.44 feet on December 25, 1991.
What is the lowest Lake Travis has been?
In the Texas Water Development Board daily record after the lake first filled, the lowest level is 614.18 feet on August 14, 1951. The 2011 to 2015 drought was higher than that, bottoming at 618.64 feet on September 19, 2013.
How often is this page updated?
The hourly lake level comes from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Percent full and storage are the latest daily values from the Texas Water Development Board. This page caches that combined summary for about 30 minutes. The figures are provisional.
